NangelLindbergNangel M. Lindberg, PhD45.55028160000000-122.6805230000000045Lindberg, NangelMDr. Nangel Lindberg studies weight loss, women's health, psychological aspects of cancer and cancer prevention, and the impact of culture on health behaviors. Dr. Lindberg is bicultural and has extensive research experience implementing behavioral interventions with diverse populations in the United States in clinical and community settings.
She is currently the principal investigator on a study that is testing a weight loss program to reduce diabetes risk among Hispanic women at the Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center in Hillsboro, Oregon. She has also contributed her expertise in developing culturally competent interventions to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)’s Diabetes Prevention Program curricula for both Spanish and English speakers. In further work with Hispanic populations, she recently implemented and tested a program to prevent excessive gestational weight gain among pregnant Hispanic patients at the Virginia Garcia clinic. She is also directing the cultural adaptation of a computer-based, cognitive-behavioral intervention for depression for Hispanic individuals.
Dr. Lindberg recently completed a study of a culturally tailored weight loss program—De Por Vida—designed for women of Mexican origin, which was successful in helping participants lose weight.
Dr. Lindberg is trained as a clinical psychologist. She attended the University of California, Los Angeles, completing her PhD in clinical psychology and postdoctoral training in health psychology and behavioral medicine. Current and past research includes factors affecting weight-loss maintenance, sociocultural factors involved in self-care behaviors and adherence to medical recommendations among at-risk individuals, and cultural elements facilitating dietary and physical activity change among Hispanic populations.Investigatorprns:coAuthorOfcoauthor ofprns:endDateend dateFaculty Rankprns:fullNamefull nameprns:grantAwardedBygrant awarded byprns:hasAuthorListauthor listprns:hasFacultyRankhas faculty rankprns:hasNetworkhas networkprns:hasPublicationVenuepublished inprns:informationResourceReferenceinformation resource referenceprns:isPrimaryPositionis primary positionprns:latitudelatitudeprns:longitudelongitudeprns:mainImagephotoprns:maxWeightmaximum weightprns:medlineTAjournal title abbreviationprns:meshDescriptorUIMeSH DescriptorUIprns:meshSemanticGroupNameMeSH semantic group nameprns:minWeightminimum weightprns:numberOfAuthorsnumber of authorsprns:numberOfConnectionsnumber of connectionsprns:numberOfPublicationsnumber of publicationsprns:personIdPerson IDprns:personInPrimaryPositionperson in primary positionprns:physicalNeighborOfphysical neighborprns:positionInDepartmentposition in departmentprns:predicateNodepredicate nodeprns:principalInvestigatorNameprincipal investigator nameprns:publicationDatepublication dateprns:similarTosimilar toprns:sortOrdersort orderprns:startDatestart dateprns:uniquenessWeightuniqueness weightprns:yearyearAcademic ArticleArticleDocumentbibo:pmidPubMed IdentifierAddressvivo:address1address line 1vivo:addressCitycityvivo:addressPostalCodepostal codevivo:addressStatestate or provinceAgreementvivo:authorInAuthorshipselected publicationsvivo:authorRankauthor rank in publicationAuthorshipDepartmentGrantvivo:hasResearchArearesearch areasvivo:hasResearcherRoleresearch activitiesvivo:hrJobTitleHR job titleInformation Resourcevivo:linkedAuthorlinked authorvivo:linkedInformationResourcelinked information resourcevivo:mailingAddressmailing addressvivo:middleNamemiddle name or initialvivo:orcidIdORCID idvivo:overviewoverviewvivo:personInPositionpositionsPositionvivo:positionInOrganizationposition in organizationvivo:preferredTitlepreferred titleResearcher Rolevivo:researcherRoleOfresearcher role ofRolevivo:roleContributesTocontributes tovivo:sponsorAwardIdsponsor award idrdf:predicatepredicaterdf:typetyperdfs:labellabelConceptAgentfoaf:firstNamefirst namefoaf:lastNamelast nameOrganizationPersonDivision of ResearchKaiser Permanente Northern CaliforniaAndrewKarterAndrew J.
