Dr. Glass is interested in the decision-making process of members, patients, and doctors on a wide variety of health care and delivery system issues. He uses both qualitative and quantitative methods to understand how knowledge, beliefs, values, perceptions, emotions, and environment factor into both individual and group decisions, and the implications of those findings for improving the delivery of care. His research interests include: the relationship of health and productivity in the work setting; how segments, incentives, and social networks can be applied to reduce obesity of a defined population; how patients and doctors evaluate complex episodes of care; how primary care physicians make career choices; how patients choose among various sites for care; and, how end-of-life preferences and experiences among patients and doctors can be systematically captured and acted upon to meet members’ wishes.
